Steve Miller Band & Peter Frampton – The Mann Center for the Performing Arts – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – June 27, 2017

Taking it back to the 1970’s, The Steve Miller Band and Peter Frampton took the stage the other night at The Mann Center in Philadelphia. The packed show had people waiting outside all day awaiting their chance to see these two infamous sets. Fans were decked from head to toe in their vintage Frampton and SMB merchandise. Mixed in with that there was also a lot of tie dye. By 7 PM The Mann Center was filled with fans of all ages.

When Frampton walked on stage, the while crowd erupted into screams. He immediately started playing his hit song “Something’s Happening”. The crowd went into a frenzy and sang the lyrics right back to him as he hit each chord. In midst of his set, he dedicated one of his songs to Chris Cornell, the lead singer of bands Soundgarden and Audioslave, due to his passing early in 2017. While Chris was in Soundgarden, he has asked Peter to play the song “Black Hole Sun” with them at a show. Peter now honors Chris at the shows by playing the song with a huge picture of Chris in the background.

The rest of his set was killer, with the crowd joining him on singing the lyrics to every song. Towards the end of his set he played his ultimate jam “Baby, I Love Your Way.” Frampton didn’t even have to sing the lyrics because the crowd was singing them so loud you couldn’t even hear Peter! He ended his set with a standing ovation and the loudest screams.

The next band on the set list was Steve Miller Band! He came out playing “The Stake” which had everyone jamming. Each song that came on brought everyone back to the time when they first heard it on the radio. He continued his set, keeping all his die-hard fans on their feet giving their best dance moves.

After performing few songs and getting to the middle of his set-list, Miller invited Frampton back onto stage to perform a few songs. They talked about the first time they met, and the first time they had performed together. The two of them went on and on about the years of friendship that they had endured. Miller went on to announce that they would be playing the Steve Miller Band song “Mercury Blues.” After rocking out to that song Peter left, and left the Steve Miller Band to continue the energy.

The end of the set consisted of jam after jam, right in a row. Starting off with their hit song “The Joker,” then following with “Fly Like an Eagle,” and then ending the night with “Rock N Me.” That wasn’t it though. They came back on stage to play three more songs as an encore!

Overall the night was amazing. Let’s just say Peter Frampton and Steve Miller still have it! If they are ever in town I would definitely recommend spending your night at one of their shows.
