Smokey Robinson brought the comfort of Motown classics to The Mann in late August. With a smooth voice and a charismatic demeanor to excite a crowd young and old, it was quite a spectacle to witness.

Immortal works like “You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me” and “My Girl” (done as part of a brilliant medley with “The Way You Do the Things You Do” and “Get Ready”) were as resonant as ever. Robinson strutted about and engaged with a lively crowd and a solid backing band.

Concluding with a brilliant sing-along to “Cruisin,'” it was a sublime musical experience that should be had by all music fans.
