Patti LuPone Isn’t Going to Monkey with Philly

Fresh off of a triumphant run on London’s West End in a revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Company, legendary Broadway diva (two-time Tony Award winner and American Theater Hall of Fame member) Patti LuPone is back and touring the US.

Promoting her latest album Don’t Monkey with Broadway, the original Broadway Evita mixes extended intros with some of the biggest songs in the theatrical canon with some delightful obscurities. The songs come from some of the most legendary composers of show tunes – including Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart, Jule Styne, Stephen Schwartz, Charles Strouse, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Cole Porter and Irving Berlin.

Also, in the one-woman-show, LuPone will discuss her career, her love of musical theater, her thoughts on the current directions of Broadway musicals, and anything else that may cross the sharp, intriguing, sassy mind of a musical legend.

Don’t Monkey with Broadway will be playing at Verizon Hall in the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia on June 9, 2019. LuPone will be accompanied by Brotherly Love, a select ensemble of the Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus.
