Motörhead, Anthrax & Crobot – Tower Theater – Upper Darby, Pennsylvania – September 22, 2015
Out of all of the venues that I’ve been to over the years, Tower Theater is by far my favorite. From the history of who has played there in the past (including Bowie, Springsteen, Reed, Elton, Paul Simon, Genesis with Peter Gabriel) to grand look of the venue itself, I really enjoyed my time there.
We can add three bands to the list with this recent concert. On the lineup we had Crobot as well as metal gladiators Anthrax and the all-mighty Motörhead.

I’ve had the great opportunity of seeing Motörhead and Anthrax play live in the past. However, this was the first time that I actually discovered Crobot, as well as seeing them play a show live. They opened the show with their hit song “Legend Of The Spaceborne Killer” off of their 2014 debut album Something Supernatural. Right away I was drawn into their music. They reminded me of Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath & Led Zeppelin all blended into one band.
As their set went on they played various songs from their catalogue. They did not disappoint with the amount of energy that they displayed that night. Their high amount of energy really set the tone for the show. When their set came to an end, they gained another fan… and then some. For an up-and-coming band, they have a lot of potential to make an impact on the rock genre in the years to come. Be sure to check out Crobot if you haven’t had the chance to do so yet.

Up next, we have Anthrax. The last time that I was able to see Anthrax play live was three years ago in 2012. In that short amount of time they haven’t changed one bit. They opened their set with the classic song “Madhouse” off of their second studio album Spreading The Disease. “Madhouse” has always been my favorite song by Anthrax, so this was really special to me.
They continued their set with songs such as “Caught In A Mosh”, “Got The Time” (a Joe Jackson Cover), as well as ending their night with “Indians.” I personally believe that Anthrax is at top of their game right now, for a group that has been involved in the metal scene for 30-plus years. They have a new album which remains untitled due for release sometime in 2016, so be sure to give it a listen when it comes out.

Lastly, there was the legendary band known as Motörhead. I’m going to be honest: I was never a huge fan of Motörhead. I don’t mean that in a negative way. I’ve always given them the highest praise and respect due to the amount of years that they’ve been making music, as well as the influence that they’ve had on the heavy metal and rock genre(s).
They began their set with the title track off of their third studio album Bomber. They continued with songs such as “Stay Clean,” and “Metropolis,” as well as the metal anthem “Ace Of Spades.” They closed out with “Overkill.” This tour in particular is extra special for Motörhead, because their 40th anniversary together just recently passed, as well as the release of their latest studio album Bad Magic. The longevity of Motörhead as a band is astonishing. I don’t see them slowing down in the foreseeable future.
Overall, the show was a solid night of action-packed heavy metal. Every band sent the crowd home with nothing but positive things to say about what they had just experienced. If you’re a fan of rock and metal, be sure to check out Crobot, Anthrax & Motörhead the next time that they’re in town as they did not disappoint anyone in attendance.
