Jake Miller – The Foundry – Philadelphia, PA – September 25, 2017
Twenty-four-year-old pop singer, songwriter and rapper Jake Miller is back on the road and he brought his Back to the Start Tour to The Foundry at the Fillmore in Philadelphia. Before the Florida native took the stage, he had three incredible opening acts that got the crowd pumped for the main event. Each of the opening acts were well received by fans and all took the time to meet fans and take pictures in between sets.
Sam Maxfield opened with his hip hop/rap songs. The crowd definitely approved. His performance was based on audience involvement, which included him jumping on the barricades, holding fans’ hands, and snapchatting the show using their phones. When he performed “This Is Me,” the crowd got involved by waving the flashlights on their phones to the music.
The second act of the night was NEVRLANDS, a group of four guys who kept the crowd active with their upbeat performance of their single “Waking Up.” Their sound is similar to Fall Out Boy with more of an alternative rock sound, nothing like Miller’s music.
The third opening act was The Stolen, another alternative band that played songs with an 80’s throwback vibe. “Can’t Get Enough” was their last song of the night before Miller came out on stage.
Miller opened singing “Rumors.” Everyone in the audience was ecstatic and showed their approval. During the second song he rocked out on his guitar and had the crowd going nuts with their phones out recording every moment.
During his set, Miller threw himself into the crowd and held fans’ hands as they were singing along with him, word for word. When he performed his emotional “First Flight Home” as the third song, he used the powerful lyrics to push his upbeat performance.
It was good to see Miller back on tour. His performance was incredible. He and his opening acts all made for a night of awesome music in a great venue.
