Chvrches – Franklin Music Hall – Philadelphia, PA – October 19, 2018

On October 19th, 2018 synth pop rattled the freshly-named Franklin Hall (formerly Electric Factory, and briefly North Seventh) during the sold out Chvrches show. People of all ages and backgrounds slowly but surely gathered together with beaming smiles. When the lights and electro music started blaring, the roar of the patient audience unleashed energy that stayed afloat throughout the entire concert.

This is Chvrches.

Chvrches is a synth and indie pop band from Glasgow Scotland, formed in September 2011. They are led by singer Lauren Mayberry, who is also known for amazing drum and keyboard skills, co-producing and co-writing all Chvrches songs with her bandmates. Ian Cook, a multi-talented artist is one of the key three in Chvrches. Ian is skilled in music production, guitar, bass, keyboard, and sampler. Martin Doherty, is not third wheel to this electronic trio, classifying himself as a producer and multi-instrumentalist. All three artists with their combined talents are Chvrches.

With so much talent packed into one band, it is no shock to hear they have an estimated 2,701,385 monthly listeners on Spotify. On Instagram, there are a stunning 251,000 followers. On Twitter, 359,700, along with being followed by some of the biggest celebrities.

Chvrches has no doubt made a name for themselves on all platforms, from social media to music, and their fan base is only rising.

Along with an amazing headliner performance, the crowd was blessed with the alternative vibes of Lo Moon. The mysterious band that left the audience rooted in place was composed of Matt Lowell, Crisanta Baker, and Sam Stewart. The trio does not have much of a social media presence, however their music speaks for itself. With 9,153 followers on Instagram and 4,057 on Twitter, we could be hearing more from this band soon. To understand Lo Moon you must listen to their songs.

October 19th, 2018 was a night Philadelphia will not forget, a sense of togetherness as one of the first concerts inside Franklin Hall. Lo Moon graced us with their presence and outlook, while Chvrches danced and spiked the energy levels in the room. With a sold out show sometimes the audience can get lost towards the back, however the love and positive energy vibrated from the stage captivating the entire venue.
