Art Show Confidential

What is Los Angeles? You could say an overpopulated city or the star-studded place to be. To many, Los Angeles is the creative epicenter for art, music, and fashion, and the LA Art Show is just one demonstration of it all. The show is currently celebrating its 25th birthday and celebrating the art of Los Angeles, all while supporting St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Celebrities, patrons, and art fans filled the opening night gala of 120-gallery exposition, hosted by Sofia Vergara, at the LA Convention Center. The night was filled with chatter, music, and food as hundreds streamed through the doors to view the premiere in all its glory.

Artwork fills the whole top floor of the Convention Center, making it very easy to get lost in both the individual galleries and diverse pieces. Everything from fine paintings and pop art sculptures to live performances and glittered gowns can be seen, but some notable exhibitions are Modern + Contemporary and Core.

Featured within Modern + Contemporary, you can find resin popsicles, infinity-mirrored objects, 3-D shifting images, and some amazing fine art paintings with a twist. These galleries carry some of the most entrancing work and were definitely the hit of the night as the theme of the show.

Core highlights similar aesthetics to the Modern + Contemporary exhibit, but it contains a greater focus on diversity in different mediums. To distinguish between the two, Core carries a range of textile designs, many bold colorful works, and abstracted views on reality. These were undoubtedly a spotlight of the night.

Entrancing the public, the LA Art Show works hard to feature artists from across the Los Angeles community, pushing the boundaries of exclusivity and conformity in the art world. With so many different galleries, the show is definitely worth the trip to see the massive amount of renowned artwork and bask in the variety of styles. It is only open to the public until February 9, so be sure to take some time to check it out!
