Reopening The Living Room
Everything old is new again, and The Living Room is back – and brand new – in suburban Philly. A terrific venue which opened last year on Lancaster Avenue in Ardmore (then called The Living Room at 35 East), the club has moved to a nicer, bigger, custom-built venue on nearby Cricket Avenue and has been rechristened The Living Room and Cricket Café.
Run by singer-songwriter Laura Mann the grand opening of the intimate new club happened on November 4th for a special party for locals, with music provided by The Boris Garcia Band. Mann and her staff (and her dogs!) flung open the doors to Ardmore locals, before the club opened to the rest of the Philadelphia area the next night.
Already lined up is a stellar slate of shows during November and December by the likes of NRBQ, Steve Wynn, Eric Bazilian, Pete Donnelly, Lauren Hart and Marshall Crenshaw, and many others. They will also be hosting family and children’s events, open mic nights, jazz nights and much more.
There will also be an attached restaurant – The Cricket Café – which will feature lots of snacks and light meal food options, including some of Mann’s famous desserts. Both the club and the restaurant are BYOB.
Our Jim Rinaldi was able to visit on the opening day, getting to know the staff and getting shots of Mann and her coworkers, as well as the opening night band.
