Updated: Jul 23

Pale Waves – The Wiltern – Los Angeles, CA – July 12, 2024

While opening the final night of the PVRIS North American Tour, Pale Waves welcomed the audience with a fun, rock filled setlist at The Wiltern. The alternative-indie band based in Manchester, England, is led by singer and guitarist Heather Baron-Gracie. Alongside Heather are guitarist Hugo Silvani, bassist Charlie Wood, and drummer Ciara Doran.

Pale Waves kicked off their set with a punkish and fast-paced song, “Lies” from their third album, Unwanted (2022). This immediately drew the crowd in with their nodding and rocking along during the performance.

From their nicely polished setlist, there was an interesting variety of sounds that ranged from 80’s melodies to indie-rock anthems. Existing fans and new ones joined together, dancing and cheering on the band during their nine track setlist.

The energy Pale Waves brought felt inviting and thrilling. The vibrant lights they used on stage mirrored their energy, along with their wardrobe. Overall, this helped create the anticipation for the main act, PVRIS.

Given the positive reactions from the audience, love was surely felt that night for Pale Waves in the intimate space of The Wiltern. There was a surprise cameo during their performance of “She’s My Religion,” when Lynn Gunn from PVRIS joined Baron-Gracie on stage for a guitar duet. Many shouts came from the crowd with this surprise.

Pale Waves ended their set on a very high note with “Jealousy.” Memories were made that night, and many were left wanting more. This band was an excellent choice to open for PVRIS and the crowd could not have agreed more.
