Jawny & Wallice – Meow Wolf – Denver (A PopEntertainment.com Concert Review)

Jawny & Wallice – Meow Wolf – Denver, CO – March 14, 2023

Jawny’s North American Tour hit Denver at Meow Wolf, which fit in a little under 500 adoring fans that night. Jawny, also known as Jacob Lee-Nicholas Sullenger, is a singer, songwriter, and producer from Fairfield, California. This date of his tour had been sold out for months, and you can tell everyone was excited to be there. The two shows before had to be canceled because the singer wasn't feeling too great, and the doctor told him he had to rest up. Everyone was relieved to see the show was still going on that night and excitement filled the room.

First up on the stage was Wallice, aka Wallice Hana Watanabe. She is a 24-year-old singer from Los Angeles, where she was born and raised. She was a perfect fit to open the night. Her band were very energetic and had smiles on their faces the entire time they were playing for the crowd. Some fans even knew her songs and sang them back to her, which she seemed to absolutely love. At the end of her set the fans just could not get enough and wanted her to just play one more song, which of course she kindly declined because she didn't have enough time.

After Wallice’s set, the preshow playlist began to play old R&B and hip-hop songs and a lot of the audience was vibing with it. After 20 minutes of anticipation, it was finally time for the main act of the night. Janwy comes out with his band and he’s so excited to be there and finally be cleared to perform a show for his fans. He was interacting with the crowd so much and they seemed to love it. Any attention they were getting from him just made them yell his name in excitement.

The first song of the night was “strawberry chainsaw,” the singer’s fourth most streamed song and one of my personal favorites as well as the audiences’. The air in the room was filled with electricity as the set went on. Everyone was so excited, and it was evident in how the whole crowd was jumping and singing along with Jawny.

As the night went on, the crowd’s energy never faltered. The whole time everyone was dancing and just having the time of their lives. At one point he got the fans to join in on “You Belong With Me,” a Taylor Swift cover, which was a crowd favorite. Jawny also sang “Honey Pie,” another favorite of mine. Seeing it live was truly an amazing experience.

He’s such a good and genuine performer I’d definitely recommend seeing him on this tour if he’s coming to a city near you. There are still a few dates left so grab some tickets while you can!
