Hey, Nothing – The El Rey Theater – Los Angeles, CA – September 30, 2026
Welcomed by a warm crowd of buzzing fans and enthusiastic hollers, Atlanta-based emo-folk duo Hey, Nothing brought unstoppable energy with them on stage from the very start of the show.
Formed in 2021, middle school classmates turned best friends, Tyler Mabry and Harlow Phillips, joined forces after realizing their compatibility as singer-songwriters was better suited as a group. They released their first album, We’re Starting to Look Like Each Other, in 2023, and continued to refine their folk sound with a 2024 EP called “Maine” and a 2025 EP called “33°,” which uses haunting storytelling and raw emotion to portray the process of grief.
Most recently, the group released their major-label debut album Hound on August 21st. This is the first record where the duo has treated music as a full-time job and that dedication is evident. The instrumentals feel punchier and complement their evolved poetic lyricism.
Hey, Nothing confidently stepping into a more mature sound was also palpable on stage as they’ve embarked on their headlining world tour.
The audience delightfully swayed as soon as the rustic and gritty guitar riffs on the title track “Hound” began. Fans bopped their heads to the undeniably catchy song “Boat Garage” and sang the notable lyric “Oh, I took the life of the party” with vigor. Mabry and Phillips had moments of meeting each other in the middle of the stage with their guitars, where you could clearly see the trust and love for one another as best friends and artists.
There are more chances to see Hey, Nothing and their talented artistry as they continue onward with The Hound World Tour in North America and Europe through the end of November.
