Gracie Abrams – Theatre of Living Arts – Philadelphia, PA – March 17, 2023
It’s about time you get to know Gracie Abrams. She is a 23-year-old singer/songwriter from Los Angeles, California. She released her debut EP “Minor” in 2020, followed by her second EP “This Is What It Feels Like” in 2021. Gracie released her debut album titled Good Riddance in 2023, including hits “I Know It Won’t Work,” “Difficult,” and “Amelie.”
Earlier this year, Gracie announced her Good Riddance world tour, including dates in Brooklyn, San Francisco, Paris, London, and Philly! I was lucky enough to check out her show in the City of Brotherly Love.
To kick off the night, the Boston trio Tiny Habits took the stage to perform an acoustic set. The group performed singles “Tiny Things,” “One More,” “Hemenway” and even a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.” Maya Rae, Cinya Khan, and Judah Mayowa perfectly set the tone for the rest of the evening, gearing the crowd up to see Gracie.
The lights went down, and the crowd erupted with excitement. The first few notes of “Where Do We Go Now?” started playing and the energy in the room grew even more. She then played “This is What the Drugs Are For” and “21,” interacting with the crowd throughout each song. Gracie knows how to make a crowd feel appreciated. She held eye contact with fans her entire set, singing her lyrics to them while holding their hands.
This show was special because it was not only Gabe Smith, a member of Abrams’ band’s birthday, but also St. Patrick’s Day! To celebrate Gabe’s special day, a cake was brought out and the entire TLA sang “Happy Birthday.” To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, fans wore green outfits and accessories, including shamrock headbands and emerald-green cowboy hats. At one point during the show, someone passed their green cowboy hat, adorned with LED lights and a princess crown, to the front of the stage. Abrams happily took the hat and wore it for a couple of songs.
Later in her set, Gracie went on to play fan-favorites “Camden,” “Feels Like,” and “I Miss You, I’m Sorry,” closing her set with “Right Now.” This was such a special show to attend because it not only included songs from all of her releases, but it is her biggest headlining tour.
She’ll also be heading out to open for Taylor Swift on her “Eras Tour” this April, so you’re in for an incredible show if you can attend any of those!
