Arkells & Robert DeLong – TLA – Philadelphia (A PopEntertainment.com Concert Review)

Arkells & Robert DeLong – TLA – Philadelphia, PA – September 29, 2023

Arkells were at our service on the first night of their new tour, following up on the release of their latest album, Laundry Pile. Joined by Robert DeLong, Arkells took the stage and delivered an upbeat and engaging performance to kick off their “At You Service” tour.

Up first was Robert DeLong, who kicked off his set with “In The Cards,” “Don’t Wait Up,” “Walk Like Me,” and “Global Concepts.” DeLong’s set was engaging and unique. His solo performance was filled with many different elements – LED lights, turntables, drums, and much more. He kept the crowd engaged and brought something new to the TLA stage that I had never seen before.

At around 9:15pm, it was time for Arkells to take the stage! In the spirit of their new album, their set was decorated with a clothing line of t-shirts printed to spell out “Arkells.” The crowd went wild as they took the stage, opening with “Skin,” “Past Life,” “Leather Jacket,” “Nowhere To Go,” and “American Screams.” They were engaging with the crowd, as each member brought the energy up. Fans were singing along to every word, as they danced along to the beat.

As they continued their set with “11:11,” “And Then Some,” “Whistleblower,” “Years in the Making,” a cover of “9 to 5” by Dolly Parton, and “Knocking at the Door,” Arkells filled the venue with powerful vocals, and incredible instrumentals. As a band, their chemistry was amazing and the fun they had on stage was a joy to watch. The performance as a whole was filled with laughter, dancing, and lots of singing and great music. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out Arkells latest album release, Laundry Pile!
